Censorship?

Given that the news media love to parade all forms of human misery, I have been wondering what is behind their silence on the epidemic of suicides.

I live in a small town of about 2500, and as you do in small towns- you get to hear all the news that is news. Not just what is reported in the newspapers or on the box.

In the last twelve months I have heard of four suicides. That is definite bona-fide suicides. I'm not counting the ones that are hard to definitely call suicide- usually the vehicle assisted types.

Why are the media so reluctant to call these deaths what they are?

It's not like they are reluctant to post judgment on anything else or to be particularly sensitive to relatives of the self-destroyers.

Who is directing them not to use the 'S' word?
